RTT-Diarrhea of the Mouth

Ahh...time again for Random Tuesday Thoughts. What would I do without Keely's weekly excuse to put up a blog that has absolutely no cohesiveness?
- I have what I affectionately refer to as Radio ADD. While in the car, I can rarely leave it on one station for more than one song. This drives The Doctor absolutely friggin' insane. I'd be lying if I said he hadn't slapped my hand away from the buttons more than once.
- The Doctor has what I call TV ADD. If I'm watching a show, it needs to stay on that channel the entire time. It pisses me off when I miss portions of the show, even if it's only 10 seconds, when it comes back from commercial. The man cannot just leave it on one channel if it's a show I want to watch. Now if it's one of his shows, that's a whole 'nother story. Tonight? I missed the last 5 minutes of two shows in a row because he was busy channel surfing.
- I'm convinced today's growth charts are based off of monster babies. Roo's doctor (he's only about a gazillion times better than yours, by the way) has put him on vitamins & wants to monitor his weight because since about his 2 month checkup, he's never gotten out of the 10th percentile. I must be missing something here because I thought 14-16lbs was normal for a 4 month old? He was closing in on 13 1/2 pounds at his 4mo checkup.
- He's been going cuh-razy with his bottles the past month. About a month ago, he ramped it up from 20-24oz a day to about 30oz a day. Not a huge jump but for him, that was a lot. Then, the past week it seemed like he was eating constantly. I sat down today & figured it up...the kid's inhaling anywhere from 40-46oz a day. Jeebus. So I took him in for a weigh-in...he'd gained 12oz in 10 days. Holy hell.
- Pretty sure once we get moved into our new house, I never want to move again. Since I graduated high school, I've moved 8 times in 7 years. Seriously? You'd think I'd be a little bit better about not hoarding so much C.R.A.P. but every time it comes time to pack up again, I throw away ridonkulous amounts of C.R.A.P.
- Bear's been doing pretty good with the whole potty thing. Lately, if she pees in her panties & I'm not right there with her, she comes running up to me & says "Aww maaaaaan." (I know those words. I know exactly what it means.) Those two words are followed by: "Issa assdent Momma." Assdent. I'll be reminding her of that one for a long time to come.
- Bear's new motto should be: Sass-Party of Two. Today while we were driving around, we were going over some of our favorite phrases. "Oh Snap", "Haaaaay Guuurl", & the ever popular "Whatever". I said "Whatever" & she responded with "At-eyah Daaaaaad." Uh, maybe she's heard me say that one too many times? Oh yeah. That was right after I was trying to get her to say her ABC's & after every letter I said, she'd respond with "STOP IT MOMMA". Did I mention when she says stop, she also sticks her hand up? A la "talk to the hand".
- After getting up (oh wait. I can't even call it "getting up" since he was still standing) approximately ONE time to comfort Roo, who had trouble going to sleep tonight, The Doctor informed me that it was my turn. Not that I ever keep count or anything, but I had, oh, SEVENTEEN turns before him.
And there's your diarrhea for the week. Diarrhea. That's one of those words that the more you say it, the less sense it makes. Now. Go over to Keely's, grab the button, write your own, & link up. Do it.

OK...you need to get a DVR -- then you won't miss a single second of any show. Greatest invention of the 20th century.
And the mom getting up vs. dad getting up equation is definitely skewed way out of whack!
Man, Elliot doesn't even drink that much. She's one this week and she only drinks about 24oz on a good day. She's never been one for bottles but Graham was like Bear, guzzling like a mofo.
Awwwww, man! That's hilarious. If you get potty training figured out, head on down here to lend a hand. Thanks.
Sometimes you're better off with the ADD instead of getting bombarded with commercials.
I totally make my husband get up. I breastfed Oscar for 12.5 months. It's Daddy's turn, now.
Oscar weighed in at 15lbs at his 4 month appt., and I think that was the 75th percentile, but he was born in the 95th percentile, so it was quite a decline and now at 22 mos, he is just under 26lbs. Miles goes in for his four month on Friday, and I think he's about the same, maybe a little heavier (he is longer, was born heavier.)
From what I understand, there is nothing wrong with the 10th percentile, as long as the kids are consistantly growing, and it sounds like yours is, so I think no worries.
Sounds like you could just drop the "radio" and "tv" and go with the all-encompassing ADD.
My oldest daughter was about 7 1/2 pounds at birth. Two weeks later, she weighed 12 pounds. She was 28 pounds at age one. I begged her to learn to walk.
hee hee - I'm with you on the radio and tv!! and no talking during my tv time!!
We never watch anything live. We purposely wait fifteen minutes or so and then watch it on dvr...ya know what we call people without dvr's? SUCKAHS!!
That's one to teach Bear...SUCKAH!
Assdent sounds a lot better than my 3 year old's perfectly crystal clear...Mom, I peed my pants...which I've been getting at least thrice daily for some reason!?
X was 13 lbs at his 3 month mark so 14-16 sounds pretty normal. As long as he's not LOSING any weight.
Assdent. Heh.
Princess Nagger has ALWAYS been in the 10th percentile of weight since birth - she just had her 6 year check up, and is still in the 10th percentile. But her pediatrician isn't concerned because she's constantly growing and is very healthy, so I wouldn't worry too much... ;) What I like about her being so petite is I can get 2 seasons out of her clothes...that's a cost saver right there! ;)
Assdent...that's funny! :)
I hear you on hoarding C.R.A.P. - I'm definitely a packrat...I'm so not looking forward to the next time we move (and we will be moving at some point - hopefully it'll be the LAST time) because being in a fairly large house the past 5-1/2 years, I've really increased my packrat hoard...it would be in my best interest to get rid of stuff I don't use or need... :)
Happy RTT! :)
Ask your dr which charts they are using. There are Breastfeeding charts, (big gainers in the first 4-6months, cause it's feeding on-demand) and then there's charts put out by formula companies. You can find both copies of the charts online. As a mom of a preemie and very aware of growth charts, I cna tell you that my 5lb7oz boy was 11lbs at his 8month visit on only breastmilk. I remember that number because the dr was all "wow look at that", and they were using formula charts in 1999 but they also said that as long as he was on a curve that showed progression it was all good. If they are plotting on the chart make sure they connect the lines so you can see, if there are plummets then you worry, progression up, that's a good thing. Sometimes you would think we need degrees in nutrition science to feed our kids.
I remember too that sitting up, and walking made smaller progressions, 4months could be working on sitting up? Sorry wow that got long, sorry.
